Image Processing
As the name implies, image processing deals with activities involving an input image that is processed in some manner, usually by digital means, to produce some desired output which may also be an image or a set of parameters associated with the input image. The applications of image processing technology are almost limitless, and include satellite imagery, photography, medical imaging, webcams, character recognition, and retinal scanning to name just a few.
A good course in image processing will likely cover most if not all of the following topics:
- pixels
- digital images
- imageJ and java
- histograms
- point operations
- filters
- edges and contours
- points of interest
- simple curves
- morphological filters
- binary images
- color images
- spectral techniques
- 2D discrete fourier transforms
- discrete cosine transforms
- geometrical image operations
- image
A great resource for image processing can be found once again at the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
