ESL Galaxy - This website has everything a teacher would need, from fun games to survival skills, with all worksheets being printable. It even incorporates music and movies, both of which are great learning tools.
ManyThings - Great for homework and additional practice. It provides students and teachers with a wide array of material, all of it online. Students can enjoy online activities and games without realizing they are learning.
Purdue Online Writing Lab - A very good site for advanced ESL students, and is more of a reference for writing.
ESL Study and Learning Materials - Excellent for advanced ESL students, and terrific for instructors, giving interesting articles, world news, and recommended textbooks for each section.
A Guide To Learning English - Something for everybody, including learning materials, online quizzes, and special pages for the student, teacher, and parent. The site is interesting because it has literature and pictures to go along with the literature so it helps ESL students get a better understanding of what they are learning.
ESL Junction - This website has many features but its main usefulness is for “Conversation Questions,” providing many interesting topics relevant to society. They do have a flashcard section but unfortunately only the pictures are given; the student would then have to put the proper word either next to the picture or on the back.
The Talk of the block: series is one of the best ESL materials out there today, offering real stories on a variety of topics, while at the same time stressing short and long vowel sounds. The student will love reading these stories and looking at the corresponding pictures. This is for the beginning ESL student.
