About Ana
I graduated from Faculty of Biology in Belgrade, where I studied Human Molecular Biology and Physiology. My field of expertise is the gene expression regulation and the molecular biology of cancer.
I am a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, and my main interest here is the mechanism of RNA interference. I believe it's important to pursue scientific questions no matter if they are profitable or not at a certain point (or maybe I am just looking for excuses for being so excited for gaining only knowledge).
For 5 years, I have worked Petnica Science Center as a Teaching Assistant and it has been very fulfilling; I like to have my lectures interactive and fun and I tend to have my students make their own conclusions with my help rather than to just give them all pieces of information.
I am also very passionate about music - I have been playing piano since I was 8 years old, and I always enjoyed subjects such as Music Theory, Harmony and Counterpoint since i find it so fascinating how rules and patterns we use in music making sound so good and provoke so many emotions. I have continued studying and playing music after graduating from Music High School in Belgrade.
