This section reviews government and business concepts of social equity. You will identify the concept of social equity and the role of government in social equity issues and describe financial management, accountability, and ethical conduct in the public sector. In 1968, a group of dissident public administration scholars gathered at the Meadowbrook conference center near Syracuse, NY and held a large conference on the state of the field. This was not a conference supported by ASPA – the American Society for Public Administration. Most of these individuals, including their inspirational leader Frank Marini, were considered the “Young Turks” of public administration and their papers were published in the Public Administration Review. Twenty years later another conference was held to judge the degree to which, if any, their arguments for change in public management implementation had mattered. One of their primary goals was to bring a great sense of social equity in the delivery of public service.

Assignment 6 Legislated Equality
Legislated equality simply refers to laws that are determined to foster equality where there is not – be it race, culture, gender, and so forth. However, the existence and extent of these laws are constantly up for great debate. With no experience with a three-branch popular government, it does not seem possible that our founding fathers anticipated government leaders proposing amendments to the Constitution on these grounds. Of course, could any of them see 200 years into the future and comprehend the diverse nation ours has become?
