Two main theories, categorized into programmed, or genetic, theories and error, or damage, theories, exist as to why humans age. However, these theories are not necessarily exclusive. According to the Tech Museum of Innovation at the Stanford School of Medicine, the reality is that why we age is more than likely a mix of these programmed and error theories, as, they point out, scientists have found data that supports both these theories.
