This material may consist of step-by-step explanations on how to solve a problem or examples of proper writing, including the use of citations, references, bibliographies, and formatting. This material is made available for the sole purpose of studying and learning - misuse is strictly forbidden. The following report is an in-‐depth study of a hypothetical scenario where the two central common rooms of the Chaplaincy Centre are extended in size.
The Centre is a part of the Student Village on the Campus.
The centre is focused on being a meet-‐and-‐greet drop-‐in facility and pays particular attention to providing a space for the social and spiritual needs of the local student community.
As such, the two front common rooms that are currently around 16m2 will be merged into an open plan space to create a larger, brighter and more welcoming facility for students to socialise.
This larger space is more suitable for gatherings such as first year fresher’s meetings, congregational activities held by religious societies such as the Islamic, Jewish or Christian Society, as well as a more pleasant environment for students to congregate in between studies.
II. DETAILED NBS SPECIFICATION
Given the changes to the Chaplaincy Centre are straight-‐forward and applicable to a well-‐known building type, what follows is a detailed performance specification following NBS standards on the changes that will be made to the existing building. The changes suggested are internal in nature, hence no alterations to foundations or the external structure are required.
