QuestionQuestion

Hypothetical-1:

NASA just selected you as an astronaut to a secret planetary mission. The secrecy of the mission required that you have no record of time (i.e. no watches or any chronometers); You packed your gear which had the trusty swiss army knife, your mission experiment - a sealed thermos filled with liquid water, a compass, and of course the astronaut suit with your oxygen supply. The NASA chief mentioned that after landing your objective was to go to an adjacent crator and pour out the thermos contents in the middle of the crator.

1. One look and you instantly know that you are NOT on the Moon, but on a planet! How did you know? Explain.

2. You think of the possibility that NASA was just fooling you and you may still be on Earth somewhere, but one quick glance and you infer that it can't be Earth - even though it looks like a lifeless land with rocks and sand, but no sign of life. How did you infer that it could not be Earth? Explain.

3. You see several crators around you, so you aim for the nearest one and after few hours of hike you get to the middle of the crator. You hear your NASA message crackling in your headphone asking to be sure that the contents of the thermos actually are placed on the surface, they want to see that water on those rocks! What are you going to check as precautions before opening the thermos to pour?

I look at the sky away from the sun and see that it is NOT black but has a nice color and I cannot see the stars. Therefore there is some noticeable atmosphere, but the Moon has no atmosphere at all. Therefore it is not the Moon....
