Determine what type of infographic you are going to develop. It could be a process, comparison, timeline, informational, etc. A Google search of ‘types of infographics’ will provide you with several additional examples of different types of infographics.

• Find some reliable resources that talk about your topic.

• Collect several pieces of data until you decide on a focus for your topic.

Choose a format to present the data:
• Data can be presented in many different ways – graphs, tables, maps, or just the numbers. Determine how you are going to present your data.

• Determine how color, fonts, and other items will function on the infographic. As with the graphs and tables of an experimental write-up, make sure you are consistent with your format.

Refine the infographic:

• As all the parts are put together, make sure it communicates the story you want it to. Make sure it is readable and easily understood by your target audience (you decide).

• Design the infographic using creative software. There are some free on-line programs that you can use too.

• Create a descriptive title for your infographic.

• Make sure your reference/data source is included somewhere on the poster --- does not have to be in large print.
