The Given Limb Foundation (the “Organization”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2007 by a team of three directors, and granted unconditional exemption status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in January 2008. The Given Limb Foundation is organized as a corporation, and is required to file IRS Form 990 or 990EZ. The Rye, N.Y-based organization’s fiscal year ends on December 31, and its primary mission is to improve the lives of individuals with amputations or diminished use of their limbs throughout the world. The Given Limb Foundation works towards this vision by supporting outreach, education, and research programs targeting amputees and people with diminished use of their limbs. When establishing the organization, Martha McDade, Leslie Purcell and Janis Rehlander’s main idea was to support military personnel requiring long-term care needs as a result of limb injuries, and although the organization continues to focus its efforts on military personnel, it now offers support to programs aimed at civilian amputees as well. The organization helps to finance prosthetics for those who cannot afford them, and funds a summer camp scholarship for children with limb differences....
