Based on the qualitative analysis conducted, the Company has been in a competitive industry for at least 50 years, which testifies to its antifragility – an ability to continue operating despite harsh economic and market conditions. It is strategically positioned (market positioning) to take advantage of a growing global sports and fitness market, which is projected to generate at least $230 billion in revenues. Its core strengths are global presence and research and development capabilities while its major weaknesses are demand seasonality as well as select macroeconomic forces. It has profitable opportunities to take advantage of but has to address the threats of aging target markets (North America and Europe). Despite being considered as one of the major players in the U.S. and international markets for sports and fitness clothing, the Company has to constantly monitor its major competitors’ actions. The executive management of the Company is diverse, with members possessing skills sets that when combined, will certainly result in synergism. And, it is important to note that the same executive management is composed of individuals who have been in the Company for at least 10 years, headed by Mark Parker, whose almost 4-decade stint has steered the Company to the right direction. While a case of either to buy or not to buy (or sell if an existing investor) Nike shares can be made based on calculating an ideal price, it is important to underscore the ownership composition of the Company; at least 80% is owned by a group of institutional investors, of which the five largest shareholders are the world’s oldest and largest investment companies.

Assets utilization ratios communicate management efficiency, where total assets turnover is 1.48x. As for profit margin, ROA, and ROE, Nike, Inc. boasts of 12.34%, 18.23%, and 34.17% results, respectively. Lastly, the market-to-book value ratio is at least 6.79x, which hints to the public at large about the Company’s favorable market valuation. As of April 2018, market capitalization of Nike, Inc. is $109,005 billion.
