Spotlight on Skills: Avoiding Plagiarism
Did you know that most cases of plagiarism result from a student’s not being aware of the proper way to cite the work of others. Throughout your coursework you will be asked to review the work of others, make critiques, and provide your own solutions to issues and problems related to the field. During this process you must be scrupulous in distinguishing between your work and the work of others. One way of doing this is through integrity in writing. To learn how to avoid even unintentional plagiarism and refresh your knowledge of how to achieve academic integrity, view the Northcentral Academic Integrity Tutorial.
The student is responsible for understanding and adhering to the Academic Integrity Policy and for avoiding all instances of plagiarism in writing.
Instructors in every course are required to provide a sample of each student’s work to the turnitin service, which checks each paper for similarity to original works and papers turned in by students in hundreds of other universities.
Violations of the Northcentral University Integrity Code are reported by the Instructor to the School and a series of consequences follow, ranging from being required to revise the paper within 3 days (first violation only) to grade penalties, course failures, and dismissal from the university.

Globalization of companies has created several opportunities as well as threats for human resource practitioners (Härtel et al, 2007). The gradual disappearance of geographical borders during the conduct of trade activities along with removal of cultural and distance barriers had led to proliferation of businesses and opened a broader pool of human resources for them from which they can develop their HR base. This development has also transformed the field of human resource management since new theories and skills are being developed to manage people in an effective manner out of the traditional boundaries. As there has been an increase in the diversity and number of employees, HR departments are confronted with a new set of challenges:

• Development of knowledge base and dissemination of information: This pertains to the spreading of the latest knowledge and practices all across the organization irrespective of the place of their origination.
• Identification and development of talent on a global basis: This pertains to the identification of people who possess the ability to perform effectively in a global and rapidly changing environment and the development of these abilities (Roberts et al, 1998).
These challenges call for the need to address the issues of candidate selection, training, compensation, relocation assistance, etc in a strategic manner.

This mandates the assignment of an expatriate to Scandinavia so that he/she can orient the local employees as per the prevalent organizational culture. The selection of the expatriate is a crucial task. Apart from the technical and business skills, it is also important that the person possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and cultural sensitivity (Fadel & Petti, 1997). The ability to practically implement the theoretical concepts is very important since people find it difficult to adjust in different cultures and settings and may also behave differently....
