HR in the Global Environment

The signature assignment will place you in a role as a Human Resource Generalist of your organization. Your goal is to build a paper that can be utilized to inform senior management so they will understand the impact of globalization on your business operations. This is your opportunity to bring all of the knowledge and understanding of human resources as the human capital component can be effected by the global marketplace.

Signature Assignment – Application of HR in the Global Environment
For the signature assignment, you are to assume the role of a Human Resource Generalist for your organization. An important goal as a generalist is to help senior management to understand the impact of globalization on your business operations and make them aware of how HR functions, such as hiring overseas, can be impacted. As the human capital component can be affected by the environment of the global marketplace, communicating these issues to leadership is a valuable skill for current and future HR professionals as well as the implementation of key responsibilities.

Spotlight on Skills: Avoiding Plagiarism
Did you know that most cases of plagiarism result from a student’s not being aware of the proper way to cite the work of others. Violations of the Northcentral University Integrity Code are reported by the Instructor to the School and a series of consequences follow, ranging from being required to revise the paper within 3 days (first violation only) to grade penalties, course failures, and dismissal from the university.

Main Task: Analyze Personnel Needs to Support Globalization Efforts
Due to the globalization of business operations, management teams have become very serious in retaining and promoting the right person for overseas positions. You have just been told to hire a new manager for your company’s Scandinavian division. Describe in detail the most important skills and qualifications considered essential for overseas assignments, particularly in these countries.

Also explain in detail some of the challenging issues and prospects of doing business abroad. Hypothesize the most important information you would be sure to communicate to HR managers as well as the senior leadership team. Provide specific examples where possible to detail your plan for this initial hiring for the Scandinavian division.

Support your paper with a minimum of five (5) resources, which may include your required text. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Length: 10-12 pages not including title and reference pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to the Academic Integrity Policy.
