Introduction:

The culture of the United States of America is built on the American Dream. The American Dream is the belief that people, irrespective of their background can attain success through handwork, risk-taking, and sacrifice rather than chance. American dream revolves around financial success and prosperity where innovation and individualism are highly rewarded. Americans are known for their handwork in business and do not like time-wasting. Most importantly, Americans love their country and are guided by six core values: unity, self-government, liberty, individualism, equality, and diversity. To understand the American culture, this paper will use Erin Meyer's culture map and Hofstede's six dimensions approach as discussed herein,

The culture map by Erin Meyer is a framework that shows how people of different cultures communicate. In her concept, Meyer argued that communication between two cultures is compared using cultural dimensions. For instance, in communication, the cultural dimension can either be low or high context, while disagreement may be confrontational or non-confrontational. Moreover, Meyer argued that persuasion could either be principles first or applications first, among other measures (Meyer, 2016).

On the other hand, Hofstede's six dimensions is a measure that is used to demonstrate how workplace interactions are affected by culture. Developed by Professor Geert Hofstede, the six dimensions rule are used to describe persons based on their national culture. Hofstedeâ€™s definition of culture considers the collectiveness of practices, norms, and beliefs among members of a group. Applying both Meyerâ€™s and Hofstedeâ€™s studies, the American culture is analyzed using the following six dimensions.
