1. Factors that can affect employee performance
There are many factors that could affect employee performance in organizations; these factors could be listed as
o Age
o Gender
o Experience
o Organizational Culture
o Training
o Rewards and Incentives
o Supervisor’s Leadership
o Stress
o Family related factors
o Personality
While considering two factors from the above that could shape up an employee’s performance in an organization we shall peep into two aspects – organizational culture and supervisor’s leadership.
Organizational culture plays a very important role in shaping the performance of an employee; every organization has an individualist way when it comes to organizational culture. No two organizations can boast of working on similar organizational cultural patterns however they could have areas which overlap at certain instances(Dugguh & Dennis, 2014). In today’s dynamic work environs organizational cultures are faster paced than in the past and work cultures especially in the context of start ups are more complex when compared to larger organizations. The organizational culture plays a positive role in determining the performance of the employees.
Supervisor’s leadership plays a crucial when it comes to extracting performance from the team members and the leader needs to understand the psyche of the team members to get the best from out of them. A leader, who does not understand his team member’s needs, wants and issues while at work can become unsuccessful in getting the best out of his team and can often lead to unpleasant situations(Chopra & Mishra, 2013). A leader can create a positive impact on the performance of the team members and a good leader would be able to get the best out of them as well.
Stress at workplace can be a negative factor that can reduce employee performance and needs to be tackled by understanding the causes of the same. At times stress could be due to a bad boss, or lack of proper understanding of the job role, or may be a family issue and few such problems leading to poor performance while at work. An employee needs to be assessed for stress levels while at work failing which it might lead to negative performance at the job function and can at times work against the interest of the organization as well(Shuck & Reio, 2011).
Family related factors are at times seen to be one of the major negative factors that can lead to stress there by reducing employing performance. People who work in organizations who have family related issues especially in terms of domestic unrest or health related issues of self or an immediate family member can be have performance issues while at a job role. In certain scenarios where humanely possible actions can be taken to mitigate such issues can be undertaken to help such employees come out of such issues or at least to minimize the impact of such issues that can affect the performance of the employee.

Health issues of her father in law, Julianne’s father was ailing for quite some time and was in a bad shape and she along with her husband were finding it difficult to cope up with the stress of the taking care of him and also the expenses thereto which were beyond their means.
