QuestionQuestion

#1 We will use the textbook Murach's SQL Server 2012 for Developers.

The authors of the textbook provided some files that accompany the text. The textbook files are attached to the Textbook Information web page in the Course Resources section of our course Blackboard. The file is named sq12_allfiles.exe.
Download sq12_allfiles.exe from Blackboard and save it in a folder named Murach's database files.
Double-click sq12_allfiles.exe and extract all the files to the default location – the root directory of your computer: C:Murach.
The screen shot below shows the path (highlighted in yellow) to the textbook files on the instructor’s computer.

Initial Posting Requirements
1. Post a confirmation that you purchased a textbook.
2. Post a confirmation that you successfully extracted the textbook files to your computer.

#2 The textbook describes how to install the SQL Server 2012 Express with tools in Appendix A. Review the instructions and then download the instructor’s more detailed instructions attached to this web page. The screen shot below shows how to access SQL Management Studio on the instructor’s computer on a computer with the Windows 7 operating system and on a computer with the Windows 8 operating system.

Download and Install SQL Server 2012 Express with tools on your computer.

Initial Posting Requirements
1. Post a confirmation successfully installed SQL Server 2012 Express with tools.

3. Post a screenshot that shows SQL Server Management Studio executes.

#3
The textbook describes how to create the databases discussed in our textbook in Appendix B, page 771. The directions to create the databases assumes that you have successfully installed SQL Management Studio and successfully extracted the textbook files. Review the instructions on page 771.
To recreate the databases for our textbook, use the modified scripts attached to this web page. Use these scripts rather than the scripts provided by the authors of our textbook. The textbook scripts assume that an older version of SQL Server Express is used and the scripts will not necessarily work with your installation of SQL Server Express.

Initial Posting Requirements
1. Post a confirmation that you successfully created the four databases using the modified scripts provided.
2. Post a screenshot that shows the fours databases in the Object Explorer Window of Microsoft SQL Server management Studio.
3. Post a screenshot that shows the table names of the AP database.
