Subject Computer Science Network Management and Data Communication

Question

A key design decision for ATM was the data field size (L) of each cell. Define Transmission efficiency E= L/(L+H), where L is the data field size and H is the header field size of the cells (in octets).
Packetization delay D is the time needed to fill a cell before transmission.

For voice streaming at 32 kpbs and 64 kpbs
1. Plot packetization delay as a function of L for these two data rates, let L={1, 100}.

2. Plot transmission efficiency as a function of L, let L={1, 100} and H=5.

Comment on the results.

1).
The packetization delay is computed as data size (without header)/ data rate (the results from P1 and P2 from Excel document are expressed in miliseconds).
It can be noticed that packetization values for the data rate of 64kbps (P1 from the plot) are twice lower than the packetization values for 32kbps data rate (P2 from the plot)....
