Chapter 1 establishes the foundation of the language, discussing its internal system architecture as an interpreted language. In reading through this, I was introduced to the various terms describing Python, the language, the IDLE interface, script mode, interactive console mode, debugging key terms, and so forth. The chapter also introduced the print() statement, which is key for publishing variable values to the screen, establishing the bare minimum for program interactivity.
