First, I do not think there should be a limit imposed on science as to what it can or cannot do except its own self-imposed limitation to not go beyond what can be objectively studied and proven. The word science comes from the Latin “to know” and I do not think there can be a limit set on the pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge has its own limit. That’s sufficient. Once science leaves its own set parameters and becomes pseudo-science, or behaves in a manner that cuts itself off from science, then I think we do have an ethical obligation to intervene.
