This report presents the results of experimental study of the sedimentation of the suspension of pure diatomaceous powder to determine the diameter of particle and percent of finer as a function of time.
The experiment was performed over 50 g of D.E. in 1000 mL of water. The characterization of the suspension was made following the hydrometer method described in Soil Survey Field and Laboratory Methods Manual (2014). The variation of the particle diameter obtained was the expected. The test was carried out in 105 min, and the main results were: the final diameter particle is 0.045 mm, while the percent of finer 45%.
