Question

Write a 6 page paper (use MLA format) commenting on the role of the United States in perpetuating or aiding in the genocidal episodes of modern history. In other words, what does Kinzer say about the role of the US in the overthrowing of existent governments in the recent past? Which of those overthrown governments experienced a genocide of their population? Why? If the US was not wholly responsible, what did they do to stop these genocidal events from happening? Was there more that could have been done? Did they do anything to accelerate or aid in the genocidal events? Explain.

Pay particular attention to the US roles in Cambodia, Rwanda, and current world genocidal actions, particularly the Sudan and the Eastern Congo. What do you feel the US should do currently to stop Global Genocide from happening? Be specific and be sure to use examples from the Kinzer book, and the websites.

In some instances, the United States played a role in repressing the self-determination of many nations around the world, especially in Vietnam during the 1960s and 1970s and the various coups engineered in Latin America during the Cold War.
