Since the Rodney King incident by the Los Angeles Police Department on March 3, 1991, there have been excessive use of force by law enforcement (Lasley, 1984). The Rodney King beating has sparked a major controversy across the country, which the United States Department of Justice has demanded that federal, state, and local law enforcements to change the way that they are being trained regarding the excessive use of force against the public (Independent Commission on the Los Angeles Police Department, 1991).
I will address regarding Control Tactics for the use of excessive force, and the impact take downs. I will explain the less lethal force options, and the deadly force options in the appropriation for law enforcement in regards to the use of excessive force.
