This test must have at least 3 groups (whereas an independent samples t-test must have exactly 2 groups).
The ANOVA test result indicates only if there's a significant difference between the groups or not, whereas the t-test for independent samples may determine if the two samples are significantly different from each other, or if sample A is significantly higher/lower than sample B (a two-tailed test and a one-tailed test accordingly).
Each individual in the one way Anova test belongs to only one group of the groups (for instance a person can only be American, Canadian, British, Australian or other, and cannot be American and Australian simultaneously, just like in the independent samples t-test.
