Correlation Causation
An example of correlation would be excessive alcohol drinking which can lead to many different illnesses such as liver disease or cirrhosis. It may also lead to learning and memory deficits such as dementia and poor academic performance. Another example of correlation would be eating fatty foods and coronary artery disease. To follow up on the example of correlation previously mentioned we can say that both diet and exercise play a vital role in causation of getting coronary artery disease controlled. Hand washing which is the number one method of infection control to prevent the spread of bacteria and germs is also an example of causation. By washing our hands we can control the spread of bacteria and germs and prevent infection. Another good example of correlation would be an increase in sales for ice cream as the weather gets hotter and hotter. Pregnancy causes weight gain to ensure that the baby is getting the proper nutrients it needs to develop is an example of causation. Eating fatty foods and junk food lead to obesity is another example of causation.

For this discussion post: give an example of the differences between correlation and causation. Correlation is a set in statistics that refers to the degree of association between two random variables. Versus Causation is that two events appear at the same time or one after the other. This means that causation is the act of something that causes a chain of reactions. Correlation is just how they relate to what’s going on.
