Tentative problem
Leadership and motivation have become an essential topic of study in the modern day. Scholars have tried to illustrate the factors and leadership styles that influence the motivation of the employees within an organization. Most of them focus only on the positive ones rather than considering challenges and barriers that can demotivate people in different situations (Lunney, Cunningham & Eastin, 2016). Additionally, limited studies have been conducted on the relationship between motivation and fitness and health. In most cases, people tend to assume that fitness and the general health of people do not determine how they are motivated to work or how they relate with their leaders. Such an assumption has generally affected the effort and interest by the modern researchers towards the issue, thus leaving a research gap that needs to be addressed.
Purpose of the study
The study tries to bridge the research gap identified in the statement above by analyzing and collecting reliable data concerning the role played by the leadership in the motivation of amateur track runners. By conducting a comprehensive study, I intend to add to the existing literature the knowledge on some of the issues affecting current leadership in health and fitness.
Research questions
The following are the research questions:
•       What is leadership in amateur track runners?
•       Does the type of leadership in amateur athletics affect the amateur track runners' health and wellness?
•       What are the effects of leadership-instigated feelings of health and wellness among amateur track runners on their motivation to perform?
