Celebrations and Festivals

One of the main celebrations in Islam is Eid al-Fitr at the end of he month-long fast of Ramadan. This is a merry and happy festival when official receptions are held and private visits are paid,   when Muslims exchange presents, wear new clothes and visit the graves of relatives.
Another major celebration is Eid al-Adha commemorating the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his sacrifice. During this festival families sacrifice animals and divide meat among friends and the poor.
