Critically evaluate one of the major trends in the African-American church today—the proliferation of prosperity gospel teaching and churches.
The proliferation of Prosperity Gospel churches is one of the most recent phenomenon in the black church tradition.
The project should include the following:
1. Cover page indicating theme for book, church name, location, picture, founding dates, etc.
2. Table of Contents listing all major topics covered in the Church History
3. Brief history of denomination/affiliation.
4. Introduction-Introduce us to the church, congregation, key people, anyone helping you and why you are writing the history of the church.
5. History of Building -How many locations through the years, cornerstone, evolution of building if renovated, the entire campus, church physical setting, who designed the church, does it have stained glass windows that tell a story, has the building survived a storm, fire, vandalism, etc.
6. Listing of all former and current pastors, pictures and their bio info; listing of all present assistant pastors and staff. Add pictures if possible.
7. Descriptions of all church ministries, leadership, accomplishments, pictures, etc. Does the church have any major programs that engage and attract the community—Festivals, revivals, watch night, cooperative efforts with other churches, etc.
8. Community involvement – How does this church interact with the community surrounding it? Does it have outreach programs that serve the community? How do they attract potential new members to visit?
9. Congregational profile – see previous page for suggestions
10. Summary - Write a summary about what makes this church unique and include it as your last page of your history. Present your project in class describing the highlights of your findings (5 points). Email the completed project to the instructor by 11:59p on the designated date. For online students the summary should be the final page. An appendix of pictures and documents is appropriate also.
