Examining Figures in Media Sociologically – Keeping up with the Kardashians

In this paper I will write about the Kardashian family, a rather dysfunctional family that is featured in a reality TV show called Keeping up with the Kardashians. The Kardashian family members are sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, their brother Rob, mother Kriss Jenner and their stepfather Bruce Jenner. Keeping up with the Kardashians is on air since October 2007 and is one of the most watched reality programs in US. The reality’s main focus is life of the Kardashian women, in most cases Kim Kardashian, the daughter of Kriss Jenner and Robert Kardashian, a deceased attorney. Kardashian sisters are born and raised in California, and they got widespread popularity after Kim’s sex tape leak back in 2007.

The given norm is that physical appearance is the only and the most important tool for advancement in women’s personal and professional life. Kardashian girls are promoting romantic relationships and high level of emotional attachment with men as one of the top priorities in woman’s life....
