About Rebeca Graciela
I am a Master in Architecture with a great passion for sustainable design.
As an architect, I feel the strong responsibility to commit to fulfilling the needs of the present by practising environmentally design. Sustainability must be the basic vocabulary of every architect, this is the main reason that impulses me to contribute to the development of ecological culture and thoughtful design for better building performance.
I have six years of experience being part of several projects, working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with architectural offices in Mexico that share my interest in environmental design.
In my last job, I worked as a Design Architect in charge of residential executive projects, starting from the initial design stage, coordinating the development until its completion. I obtained a certification for the use of SISEVIVE-EcoCasa, a passive house evaluation system in Mexico, for the green accreditation of ongoing projects applying bioclimatic measures to reduce carbon footprint and water consumption.
In 2015, I had the opportunity to travel to Nepal. This occurred to be an extraordinary experience that not only enabled me to immerse myself in a different culture and spiritual growth, but also to implement the knowledge acquired during my studies to bring help and support in the reconstruction of small villages affected during the earthquake in May that year. Getting in touch with the construction methods in those deep-rooted communities, reaffirmed my wish to get into sustainable architecture education.
In 2021, I concluded the Master of Architecture: Resilient and Sustainable Strategies at the KU Leuven University in Belgium, where I gained a broad knowledge in this field. My master's thesis relied on the investigation of traditional methods of earth construction of rural towns in central Mexico, proposing and designing a project to extend its architectural possibilities and promote its continuity in society.
This time studying abroad also reinforced my skills for cross-cultural collaboration, working under pressure and especially working in a goal-oriented way. On top of that, as a result of studies and work experience, I am a professional user of software such as AutoCAD, Sketchup Pro, Revit, Twinmotion, Photoshop, In-Design, SonyVegas, Microsoft Project, among others.
As a recent graduate myself, I am familiar with the challenges and struggles that students encounter to successfully complete their work: workload, time, information search, doubts, or simply need of advice to know that you are on the right track. I am happy to be able to help any of you who need guidance and support for your work development, sharing my knowledge in the field of architecture or my understanding of languages, as far as possible.
These are some of the topics I can offer assistance with, among others:
-Architecture design, climate design and sustainability
-Landscape, ecology and urbanism
-Architecture visualization, drawing, modelling or rendering
-Architecture software (mentioned above)
-Architecture and anthropology
-Basic structures in architecture
-History of architecture
-Digital photography and video editing
-Languages, Spanish and English
My experience in teaching comes from working and explaining topics to my classmates during my studies and leading study groups. I can confidently say that I have the skills to explain and pass on the knowledge, as well as the patience and motivation to teach.
